Swim meets are a great family experience; they're a place where the whole family can spend time together. They also provide a great opportunity for swimmers to see progress from their efforts in practice, and socialize with their team mates, family and friends.
Listed below is a collection of information about various aspects of swim meets.
Swimmers can enter a meet through their club and the club's coach. Please contact your club for further information on entering swim meets.
Planning, Organizing and Running A Swim Meet
The following information and procedure will assist you in running a swim meet:
REVIEW ASSA MEET RULES When planning, organizing and running any ASSA Swim meet, you need to be familiar with the ASSA RULES AND REGULATIONS. They ouline the rules that govern all types of swim meets in the ASSA and can be an excellent source of information on elements of a meet you may not even have considered!
ADD YOUR MEET TO THE ASSA MEET SCHEDULE Once you are familiar with the ASSA Rules and Regulations you need to pick a meet date. To do this you can check the existing ASSA Meet Schedule to find a free weekend, pick a date and then have it approved by one of your Region Representatives. Once this is done you should add your meet to the ASSA Meet Schedule - to do this, you must have secure access to the club functions as meets can only be added by a Club President, Treasurer or Registrar. Be sure that you have confirmed your pool booking for this date!
ADD and/or EDIT YOU MEET DETAILS You can now ADD and/or EDIT YOUR MEET DETAILS IN THE MEET ADMINISTRATION AREA. This can be done immediately following step 2, or at a later date. This area will allow you to define all the details of your meet, like who your referee will be, which events you will host, when your entry deadline is and how you will score you meet. You can go back in and edit your meet as much as you like up until you request a sanction number.
SANCTION YOUR MEET In order for your meet to be supported by the ASSA website, for the results to be considered "Official" and for insurance to cover your meet, you must sanction it. Once you have completed entering all the details for your meet, you should request a sanction number. Once you receive a sanction number your event details will be used to create a meet pacakage on the ASSA website, the referee will be notified of your meet details and your meet will become availble on the coaches entries webpage. You can REQUEST A SANCTION NUMBER IN THE MEET ADMINISTRATION AREA.
FILL YOUR OFFICIALS and VOLUNTEER POSITIONS It is also a good idea at this time to start recruiting volunteers and officials to asisst in running your meet. You can DOWNLOAD AN OFFICIALS ROSTER FORM to make this task easier.
